Ophiuchus Apps

This is the app page for the Ophiuchus Unit. If you are looking for the regular apps, they are here. If you need to request permission for a third character, have questions, or are concerned about your activity, please contact one of the mods on IRC or e-mail us at sabra.la.mods@gmail.com.

Please read the Ophiuchus Unit Info Page before apping, especially the sections on Apps and Arrivals. As usual, we appreciate uniqueness, creativity, and brevity.

The App

Contact/Personal Info
A comment separate from your app with your name, preferred journal, and email. Making it a separate comment lets us know who you are, but lets us keep your email address screened.

Canon (and version, if applicable)
Should be pretty straightforward!

Reference Picture and Wiki link (again, if applicable)
Again, pretty straightforward!

Point in the time-line taken Whether the character comes from the end of the series or a point partway through. For characters being apped from ongoing canons, we ask that you pick a definite spot to start from, though you are welcome to add memories past that point when your canon progresses.

Character History
A brief summary of your characters history, just so the mods have at least a little background to go on. This section generally need be no longer than 300 words, and if it takes up more than an entire comment you have done it wrong.

Motivation
Basically, why this character would willingly agree to come to Sabra. What you write in here isn't set in stone, especially for ongoing canons, and doesn't have to be that SPECIFIC WISH, but show us you're thinking about it at the least!

Canon Personality
Can be a little longer than the history, if necessary.

Blank Personality
The most important section! Please explain what personality traits you believe your character will lose and retain upon arriving in Sabra La Tau and why. Analysis of why your characters do what they do, and how their memories shape those actions is necessary to give an acceptable answer to this section; simply listing how your character will act is not enough.

Some characters may act in an extremely similar fashion to their canon selves and some may act radically different. However, in either case, we want you to explain why. We want the players to chose for themselves what their character would be like sans memories, but unsupportable (or simply unsupported) answers will be rejected.

Why does your character wish to join Ophiuchus?
For in-game transfers only. Why does your character seek to switch units?

How would this character act in a position of authority?
These Blanks will be treated significantly better than normal Blanks, and are put in a position of authority over them. In what ways will this affect their character development?

What are their combat capabilities?
Ophiuchus is often asked to undertake tasks requiring a certain level of force. Tell us about your power levels!

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills?
Anything you think may be useful, please put here.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges?
Is there a certain person or memory that will give your character a sudden desire to STICK IT TO THE MAN?

Writing Sample
Much the same as the regular app writing sample, the main thing we are looking for here is characterization. As a general rule of thumb, we tend to prefer apps that describe the Blanks' reaction to seeing themselves in the message over the ones that concentrate on the Blanks' reaction to the room or their own sense of confusion. Introspection is key! How would your Blank's reaction be different from other Blanks?

Remember, Ophiuchus members get a 20 word message to themselves, and they must say, "I shall serve the Judges faithfully."

Contact/Personal Info comment (separate from your app!):

The regular app form:

The form for transferring characters who are already in the game:

Application Status: CLOSED except for reapps

Applications are no longer being accepted at this stage of the game. Any new character apps posted will be automatically declined.

Tasuki (1/2)
[info]out_ofthe_chair
2009-11-15 05:08 pm UTC (link)
Character Name: Tasuki/Kou Shun'u
Canon: Fushigi Yuugi
Reference picture and Wiki link: Image and wiki link
Point in the time-line taken: after main series, first and second OVAs (but not the third)

Character History:
Born into a family with five older sisters, an overpowering mother, and an unremarkable father, it was only a matter of time before little Shun'u wanted to run away. At fifteen, he left his girl-run home and went to join the Mt. Reikaku bandits where he looked up to their leader, Hakurou. Meeting his best friend Kouji, he trained and lived there for two years and even saved the Mt. Reikaku bandits from a demon. During then, he found out that he was destined to be a Suzaku Seishi because of the mark for "Tasuki" on his arm. Near the end of those two years, Shun'u left the bandits in order to find a cure for their dying leader.

When he returned, he ran into the company of Yuuki Miaka, the Suzaku no Miko, who was looking for the other Suzaku Seishi so they could summon Suzaku and save the country of Konan. Shun'u initially kept his tie to her a secret, saying that someone else was Tasuki, so that he could remain with the bandits since he had been named their next leader after Hakurou died. After Miaka's group left, Shun'u and Kouji talked and eventually convinced Shun'u to go with Miaka, leaving Kouji in charge of the bandits while he's away. Shun'u then joined the other Seishi as Tasuki and became fast friends with all of them while journeying to save the world.

Canon Personality:
Tasuki is a brazen, foul-mouthed punk with a surprisingly gentle soul. Loving to use profanity, getting into brawls, and generally just being rude, Tasuki isn't exactly the smartest Seishi of Suzaku, but he takes what he has and does his best to kick bad guy ass. Blunt to a fault, he has no qualms telling anyone that he doesn't like them to their face. The only time where he would hold his tongue would be when he is occasionally confronted by his personal feelings that would be considered soft by his MANLY TOUGH GUY thinking ... though he is just as likely to let his feelings show on his sleeve at the most embarrassing moment ever. Despite his violent and rough exterior, Tasuki values his friends greatly and will not hesitate to kill those who would try to endanger them or make fun of them in any way.

Blank Personality:
As a blank, Tasuki ... would still be vulgar and obnoxious as all hell. If something annoys him, he will say it and he will say it loudly. He'll also still be very open with his feelings, sentimental and easily emotional. Before he remembers his tough guy personality, he will act more like a child, wanting to follow or emulate people he wants to be closer to or people he thinks are cool. If he's asked to do something, he'll complete it when it's explained to him that "this is how it's done." As he gets more memories back, he'll begin to question his actions, though he would still complete them until he gets some big memory that might tell him otherwise.

How would this character act in a position of authority?
Tasuki would be BADASS or at least try to act like it. He'll be fairly good at carrying out orders, and when he gets more confident, he might even go a little overboard. He'll be even happier if he gets to pick a fight, acting like a bully child and things like name-calling. Depending on who he's confronting, he also might come to like them and try to cut them some slack until he's reminded of the job he's got.

What are their combat capabilities?
Hand-to-hand combat with a martial arts emphasis, though straight-out brawling is always best. Knows how to use a sword fairly well, as well as other small blades. Once he remembers more bandit-y things, he'll know how to be stealthy and how to lay some basic traps.

Tasuki (2/2)
[info]out_ofthe_chair
2009-11-15 05:09 pm UTC (link)
Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills?
Due to his Seishi skill, Tasuki is extremely fast and can outrun anyone when he applies that skill. The impulse to run fast might be tough to handle until e remembers how to temper his skill, though. He also uses a spell that causes fire to erupt from his iron fan that can cause anything to turn to ash in a matter of seconds. The spell, however, is memory-based.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges?
Until he remembers otherwise, Tasuki won't think that killing is a bad thing. When he remembers the death of his friends, he will be very sensitive to death in general, though he will only outright rebel if he's ordered to kill someone who is innocent or hasn't done anything wrong. He would be slightly more "okay" with punishing someone who broke rules, but a random death would make him stop.

Writing Sample:
"FUCKIN' PIECE A -- ... piece of ... uh ..."

Just what it was a piece of, the Blank could not remember. He glared at the offending metal thing in his hand, then glared at the wall where the metal thing had bounced off of moments before only hit him smack in the head, then glared more at the metal thing. How dare it come back at him when he tossed it out of his bed?! He was there sleeping peacefully until he felt something hard under the small of his back and had the gall the wake him. Fucking bastard.

Grumbling and rubbing his sore head, the Blank finally just sat up. And looked at the metal thing, trying to decide if throwing it across the room was a good idea or not. He shook it instead, and held it up to his ear. He didn't really hear anything, did he? He shook it again. Still nothing. And again he shook it, this time so much so that his arm got tired. Still nothing. He held the end with the small hole up to his eye. "Lousy piece a -- AAAH!"

Surprised to actually see something inside it, let alone someone, he dropped it. And then kicked it in anger since it landed on his foot. Fucking bastard. After glaring at it sufficiently, he got up and went after it, determined to show it who exactly was the boss here. Snatching it up again and shoving it at his face -- "OW damn it!!" -- he paid more attention to what he was seeing.

Standing in the metal thing was some cocky looking guy, arms crossed and grinning to hell and back with a dangerous look to him. "You wanna see us all together again, right? This'll be a fuckin' piece a cake!" Then the guy looked slightly to the side. "I shall serve the Judges faithfully." ... And then it ended.

"... What the hell was that?!" Shaking it a few more times, the Blank finally gave up when the metal thing didn't show him anything else. The hell was that guy talking about? And what the fuck is "cake"?? It took the Blank a moment to realize that he couldn't remember. Hell, he couldn't remember anything, how he got here, where here exactly was, and ... everything else. This was going to be one hell of a day.

"Shit."

Kieran Trevarde - Transfer
[info]stormgreen
2009-11-16 03:43 am UTC (link)
How would this character act in a position of authority? Kieran is not especially a brute, per se, but people who question his authority or power in stupid fashion tend to end up on the losing side of a fight against him. He doesn't mess with people for fun, but he doesn't hesitate to smack down anyone who need a smacking or tell someone who's being uppity exactly how small they are. He'd rather be lazy and not have to do anything, so when he does have to assert his authority, it's brutal, efficient, and memorable for whoever crossed the line.

What are their combat capabilities? Once he gets some pertinent memories back, Kieran is not someone to mess with. He's fast, he's skilled at both hand-to-hand and gunfighting, and will use anything in easy reach as a weapon. Perhaps more dangerous than that, the boy. will not. go down. He doesn't stop fighting until he wins or he's physically unable to go on.

Oh right, and he also has some seriously dangerous (but memory/creativity dependent) combat magic (knives of air, blasts of kinetic force, fire spells, shields that can block bullets etc etc etc he will fuck you up good), and the ability to insta-kill by yanking someone's life-thread right out of their body. That last one is currently something that I'm assuming the Judges wouldn't allow, and whether they allow it when he's on Ophi is totally up to you guys. I'm cool with whatever in terms of dialing down his magic, since he is crazy powerful in canon.

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? Again, memory-dependent, but Kieran was an assassin, a highwayman, and a prostitute. He knows how to posture to get what he wants, how to pull off a heist without a hitch, how to stake-out and how to plan and execute a kill. He's one-man tactical as opposed to military tactical, but he's very efficient at what he does even without magic.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? Learning about killing Thelyan/Dalan and getting too much information about Ashes are both things that will make Kieran prone to rebelling. If he is given the memory about the fact that he and Ashes successfully killed a god, he WILL go after the Judges. He'd have to learn the hard way that the rules are different in Sabra and the Judges can't be offed just like that. (Killing him AND emotionally manipulating him somehow is the best way to do that--just killing him isn't enough to keep him in line.)

How would this character act in a position of authority?
Nora’s not good at real leadership, so he’d have a tendency to throw his weight around and be a lot heavier-handed than he absolutely needed to be. He might feel bad about it later, but if he’s expected to give and enforce orders, he would do a lot of screaming and yelling to get it done.

What are their combat capabilities?
Nora is incredibly strong physically, with the ability to keep going long after he should have given up already. He has supernaturally good aim, because he just brings two points together using his innate magic. He can punch through stone when not handicapped by the bracer, and naturally picks up moves as he fights. It’s something like muscle mimicry, in that he learns best and quickly simply by fighting and watching as others fight.

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills?
He’s a giant demon dog? His magic, actually, is insanely powerful. Nora has enough power housed in his body to keep two entire universes balanced and running smoothly for the next two to four thousand years. Most of it, however, he can’t actually access because of his collar. But he can do any spell from any discipline of magic (in terms of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Soul) and a level 1 spell for Nora is most people’s level 30-60 spell. Which means that as the canon progresses and he levels up… Well, let’s just say he’s pretty mad powerful. He learns more spells as he gets back more memories, too.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges?
At first, Nora will want to anyway, but he’ll calm down. At the moment, he doesn’t think he could take on the Judges, and unless someone convinces him that it’s not a completely losing battle, he will be highly unlikely to actually attempt to rebel. He’s been pretty well bent by the Judges at this point.

Invader Zim 1/2
[info]be_my_chum
2009-11-21 04:45 am UTC (link)
Character Name: Zim
Canon: Invader Zim
Reference picture and Wiki link: Series data is HERE GAZE UPON THE GLORY OF ZIIIIIIIIIIIIIM!
Point in the time-line taken: Just after launching a giant mutant Santa into space (However, I plan on using the unaired scripts as canon as well)
Character History: When Zim was just a wee, adorable little Irken, freshly hatched, he like all of his race, went to the Controller Brain to have the history of his people downloaded into him through his PAK (a life support system full of tools, invader goodness and SELF). Immediately, he decided the history was boring and full of errors. He wanted to complain about it so much that he inadvertently caused a backup in the downloading lines, several explosions and Horrible Painful Overload Day (the first.) Off to an awesome start, he eventually becomes tired of his education tube, and desires to see the surface of his world. Several explosions later, he has, and caused Horrible Painful Overload Day (the second) plunging his planet into darkness and backwardsness for several years.

Oh, some more explosions happened here and there, but they were REALLY COOL. A few of the Irken leaders might have kind of sort of been killed, but you know, who REALLY needed them? Then came Operation Impending Doom, where Zim was ordered to stand in a small circle for the duration of it. Oh but standing couldn't just be done when there was invading to do! One tiny, little stolen megaweapon later, a full scale invasion of doom and explosions had REALLY begun.

Unfortunately, the small detail of not having LEFT his home planet yet was a touch overlooked in the glee of total and utter annihilation of all those standing before him.

He was then reclassed as a Food Service Irken and banished to Foodcortia. He quit his banishment and crashed the Great Assigning for Operation Impending Doom 2! Eager to get rid of him, the leaders of the Irken race, known as the Tallest, assigned him to some random planet off... that way.

Thus, Invader Zim came to Earth and the nightmare had TRULY begun. Mostly, for the Tallest and some nosey human kid. No one else really notices.

Canon Personality: Zim is loud, arrogant and incredibly driven. He seems to have a certain amazing willfulness even above and beyond most of his species that allows him to defy direct orders in order to satisfy what he imagines his leaders WANT him to do. He is notably inventive and intelligent; however, both of these are canceled out by the fact he is obsessively detail driven (and such details can send him off into inane detours from what he is SUPPOSED to be doing), self delusional, and of course, incredibly, incredibly naive.

He is impulsive and tends to take his gut reaction to a situation as the ultimate truth of it, and tends to be driven by petty emotions and reactions at a moment's notice. He will fixate on petty insults or small slights and construct elaborate plans or means of retaliation and SHALL NOT REST UNTIL ENACTED.

Zim is known for referring to himself in first person, rewriting events to suit his world view, and speaking in capslocks.

Blank Personality: Zim's personality will be absolutely, completely and totally without change (It being loaded into his PAK rather than his brain, after all. The only thing that might actually differ is the fact that without the memories of the GLORY, DUTY, AND REALLY COOL WEAPONS, he may have the occasional, overpowering urge to be a frycook.

Sabra's lack of deep grease vats may seem problematic at first, but I'm sure he'll work around it.

How would this character act in a position of authority? Authority? AUTHORITY YOU SAY? ZIM HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE!!!

...

Yeah. He'll just invade, torment lesser FILTHY game playing Blanks and come up with hilariously over-complicated plots involving deep-fried squidrat onna stick. These may or may not actually work.

What are their combat capabilities? SLIM TO NONE, Zim has actually very little in the way of strength or actual hand to hand combat skill. HOWEVER, making, capturing, stealing and otherwise acquiring other THINGS to do his eeeeeeeeeeevil bidding is something of a skill of his.
Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? Within his mighty PAK is not just ZIMNESS. Oh no, it is even MIGHTIER than that. It contains mechanical spider legs of AMAZING DEXTERITY, force fields, organ stealing devices, goggles, cutting tools, and even a reactivation unit in the case of terminal stupidity. It's sort of an invader Swiss Army knife, complete with that bizarre do-hickey that you just really can't figure out what it's supposed to do but does a mighty fine job cleaning toenails.
Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? They shrink. No really, once you have Zim's loyalty, you will never be free of it. No matter how much you may desperately, desperately want to be. But hey, he's cheap, destructive, and can be paid in snacks.

Writing Sample:
He awoke.

This monumental event was clearly the most amazing thing to have ever happened in the history of wherever he was. He really couldn't remember anything more impressive than the opening of his eyes and gazing upon the room of his awakening, and he was sure that if anything more incomprehensibly awesome than him awakening had happened, he clearly would have had it etched into his brain.

Then, THEN, came sitting up. Oh, each moment was a great new discovery of movement and awareness. Hands! Feet! Antenna! Metal leggy propulsion things that go off, launching him from the site of his awakening into a nearby, incredibly solid obstacle! Pain! OH! The things he was learning! THE LEARNING HE WAS DOING!

"Still," he mused to himself, while picking himself up. "This ... pain. I have decided I do not like it." He glowered at the obstacle and climbed to his feet, and pointed with his finger! "You ... you... "

'Wall' a helpful portion of his brain supplied.

"WALL-THING! QUAVER AND QUAKE BEFORE MY ANGER! While an educational experience, it was not fit to have been inflicted upon ... upon...!"

Clearly, to teach this rebelliously un-quavering thing, he must have a name that it may remember and speak of in fear to further generations of wall-lings. He glanced around furtively for a hint, and there! Upon a much less rebellious wall, there were WORDS! Impatient to continue with this proper subjugation of this recalcitrant room partition, he only gleaned the most important part of the message before snapping back to his lecture.

"It was not fit to have been inflicted upon Ablank!" He paused for dramatic effect, staring mightily at his nemesis. "A-HA! I see I have awed you into silence. VERY WELL. Given that it is my Awakening, I shall let you off easily. NEXT TIME!!! You may not be so fortunate should you resist the onslaught of ABLAAAANK!"

Satisfied, Ablank turned to examine the rest of the room with his keen, if still developing, wit.

Most of it was quite uniform, except for The Device. Cursory examination of the device quickly revealed that it was not good to eat, absolutely horrible as a toothpick and could not be stood upon for any significant additions to height. It was not until he looked INTO it that its true purpose became evident to the wondering Blank. Inside was a message speaker, full of confidence and thus, obviously, full of importance.

"This reassigning is merely a part of the plan. YOU!" The message speaker pointed to him. Ablank looked behind himself. ... No,0 he was still alone; obviously this message was meant for him! He returned to this fascinating recording. "ME! INFILTRATE AND GATHER INFORMATION! Until my mission is complete, I shall serve the Judges FAITHFULLY!"

What fire! What zeal! What snazzy boots that person in the message had!

"A MISSION! Yes... YESSS I can feel it now! PURPOSE! Returning to me in a flow of molten, tingly determination like ... something somethings!" He cried, fists shaking with the power of his emotions. "This mission! I SHALL FOLLOW IT TO THE VERY LETTER. As soon... as it has some spelling. But I will not let such minor matters delay me! Yes. ONWARD TO MISSIONNESS!"

The door, understanding the importance of Ablank with a MISSION, gave way smoothly as if HINGED.

This day of Awakening. How it would be a day of THINGS.

Shimura Tae 1/3
[info]wheresthemoney
2009-11-22 03:28 pm UTC (link)
Character Name: Shimura Tae
Canon: Gintama
Reference picture and Wiki link: Wiki Link and Reference Pic
Point in the time-line taken: Chapter 246
Character History:
Shimura Tae is the eldest child. Her father was a samurai who lived the samurai way and died the samurai way - by leaving his two children with one hell of a debt and a run-down dojo with no students. In this world of Edo, aliens have taken over and they rule the place. And samurai aren't worth much anymore. But Otae still retains some of what her father has taught. She is determined to do anything to protect the dojo from debtors.

A man named Sakata Gintoki came into her and her brother's life one day and changed her perspective on how she could better protect the dojo. She allowed her brother to live his own life while she found a job as a hostess/bodyguard to earn money.

She leads a relatively normal life with the occasional fourth-wall breaking hijinks and crazy stalker gorillas proposing to her to spice up her life.

It's pretty unspectacular really.

Canon Personality:
Otae is an independent young woman. She's tough and has a no-nonsense stance on things (nevermind that she sprouts nonsense herself). She will stand up for what she thinks is right, although this sense of justice can be a little skewed. (She will protect an injured man and make sure he stays in bed by beating up said injured person.)

She can be nice and considerate and lady-like until she finds out that the person is a dimwit who can't think for themselves. In cases like those, she will just physically abuse that person until she is given a good enough reason to help them. Although in normal days, she will also physically abuse people whom she thinks deserve it.

She is protective of only a few things: herself, her brother, Yagyuu Kyuubei, and her father's dojo. With Yagyuu Kyuubei being the only person she will never be violent to.

Blank Personality:
As a Blank, Otae will believe she is a nice and harmless young woman who's here for the sake of her father's dojo. And she will do anything that is required to make sure she gets that wish. At the same time, she will automatically strike out against people who encroach on her personal space or who say things that sound unreasonable to her.

In essence, she will believe wholeheartedly that she is nice and harmless, while being completely violent at the same time. It's not such a far stretch from her canon personality, really.

Her sense of right and wrong will be even more skewed without memories. If she was told beating up regular blanks is the correct thing to do and she likes that idea, she will stand by this and do it with much righteousness!

How would this character act in a position of authority?
She is very authoritative. She's taken on that role of authority her whole life. If she was ordered to punch someone in the face for being an idiot, she would do it thinking she is being perfectly reasonable. She has no problems with being violent at anyone who tries to go against her authority either.

What are their combat capabilities?
She's decent at hand to hand combat but mostly she relies on comically knocking out her opponent with one solid punch. She's trained in the use of a naginata (Japanese spear) and it is her weapon of choice.

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills?
She's very strong. She's aware that she can use her lady features to manipulate people. She also has decent acting skills. Her overfried eggs has the ability to cause shortsightedness and/or amnesia. It is THAT powerful. She is also good at setting elaborate traps to keep people in and stalkers out.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges?
Once she is aware of the reason why she is here in Sabra, the only thing that will make her rebel against the judges is if she has to raise a hand or do something bad to a person named 'Yagyuu Kyuubei'.

Writing Sample:
With the initial confusion of waking up in a strange room done and dealt with, the Blank was now peeking into a shiny tube. There was a pretty young woman looking back at her. She looked elegant in her outfit and with her hair done up in a ponytail. The woman started to speak, almost conspiratorially.

"Listen carefully. You need the money to save the dojo. These guys make a good offer. It'll be easy." She nodded, straightened up, and smiled confidently before adding. "I shall serve the Judges faithfully!"

"Easy, huh." The blank said softly as she thought about the message. This was definitely connected to why she can't remember anything. And it was obvious who she needed to find right now. She put the tube back on the nightstand and stood up, running her hand through her long hair to smooth it out.

She smiled, unconsciously mimicking that same confident smile she saw on the message. She was off to hunt down some Judges.

Writing Sample:
The blank had sleepwalked into the wall opposite her bed. Her body having decided to try to perform her daily 'morning' activities as she was half-awake. She rubbed her nose and looked around as she backed away from the wall. The room didn't feel right. And yet she wasn't sure why this is so.

She frowned at the room for a moment and declared, "Oh my. Maybe I've been kidnapped." She did not look or feel worried despite saying this. A quick look-around brought her focus to a shiny object! A brass tube which she swiftly picked up and looked into. There was a pretty young woman in there looking back at her. She looked elegant in her pink outfit and with her hair done up in a ponytail. The woman leaned forward and started to speak, almost conspiratorially.

"Listen carefully. You need the money to save the dojo. These guys make a good offer. It'll be easy." The woman nodded. She straightened up and smiled cheerfully before adding. "I shall serve the Judges faithfully!"

"Easy, huh." The blank smiled. But her hand was gripping the tube tightly. Had the tube been any less sturdier, it would have broke. Well then, she would just have to find these judges this woman serves, hm? And find out who this bitch is so she could teach her a lesson about kidnapping and imprisonment. She tossed the tube aside and cracked her knuckles.

"Off we go then." She declared cheerfully and headed for the door.

Sasarai

2009-11-23 04:09 am UTC (link)
Character Name: Sasarai
Canon: Suikoden III (manga, primarily)
Reference picture and Wiki link
Point in the time-line taken: After the end of Suikoden III
Character History: In Suikoden, the world's magic comes in the form of Runes. The strongest of these Runes are the True Runes, huge forces that may have shaped their entire world. One of these Runebearers is Sasarai ... although he's far from a normal one. Sasarai and his brother Luc were both created to hold True Runes- Earth and Wind, respectively- and while Luc's development fucked up along the way, Sasarai's didn't. As a result, they were raised separately, Sasarai having no idea that there was an angry little wind-god out there gunning for his blood.

In Suikoden II, he gets some idea when, while leading forces against the Heroes, Luc blows his army to shit with the True Wind Rune. He goes back home confused as fuck.

In Suikoden III, it's further confirmed when, while leading forces against the Heroes, Luc kicks his door down and rips the True Earth Rune out of his soul. This doesn't go over very well, as without it, he has about a month to live. Sasarai joins up with the heroes, retrieves the Rune, puts it back in his soul, and goes back home, no longer confused as fuck but definitely suffering existential angst.

Canon Personality:
Sasarai in the manga is pleasant, cheerful, calm, and overall quite nice ... to his allies. To those who oppose him, he's still polite, still quite pleasant- but, if he has to be, ultimately ruthless. He's not bloodthirsty or savage by any means, but he has no problem collasping the earth under an enemy army just to check if a certain person is there. Sasarai's calm, unruffled surface nature covers some underlying existential angst over the whole 'clone' affair, however.
Blank Personality:
In Sabra, Sasarai would only diverge slightly from his canon personality. He'd be less unruffled, and more likely to have emotional outbursts, until he remembered more about himself. Other than that, he would remain polite, pleasant, and cheerful. Sasarai's nature is to be 'earthy', so some things, like the stability and calmness, would just stay from the beginning.

In a way, Sasarai would be /more/ cheerful in Sabra, too- without his existential angst, he'd have much more reason to get close to his teammates and wouldn't feel awkward about doing it. He also wouldn't be as manipulative without the memories of being manipulative. As he got more memories back, he'd probably integrate that gradually into his personality. Sasarai would not be prone to sudden changes of character, even without his memories.

How would this character act in a position of authority?
Sasarai is in an important position in canon anyway, so he wouldn't react much differently. Sasarai would be pleasant, polite, and ready to kill someone at a moment's notice if he has to. He wouldn't go out of his way to beat up Blanks or establish his authority, but he wouldn't stand for taking shit from them, either.

What are their combat capabilities?
Sasarai is the bearer of the True Rune of Earth, which, long story short, means that everything on the ground is potentially his bitch. It's amazingly powerful magic, and he's amazingly good at using it.

On the other hand, being a video game mage also means his physical combat is shit. Until he remembers how to use magic, his combat capabilities would be basically nil.

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills?
Sasarai led an army in canon, as well as being particularly politically shrewd. In a nonformal environment this just manifests as being smiley and cheerful most of the time, but it also translates into a very good poker face, which could also be useful.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges?
None. Sasarai would accept that he had agreed to it and follow it through to the end.

Writing Sample:

When he woke up, he was underground. That thought swam to the surface of his mind immediately, followed by why do I know that? and why don't I know anything else?

The figure rose from the bed with a slight frown, hands dropping to his side onto the covers of the bed- except for the left hand, which hit a small metal object. Blinking a few times, he brought the object up to his face. He wasn't quite sure what it looked like, but a flash of motion from within it drew his eye. Curiously, he brought the object up, to peer through it.

There was a teenager sitting there, smiling pleasantly at the camera. He looks sad, thought the watcher momentarily, but then changed his mind. After a few moments, the teenager in the recording spoke, much more eloquently than he would have expected.

"I believe that this is the right choice. They'll understand, in the end. Please do your best while you're there. I shall serve the Judges faithfully." Then the figure in the recording folded his right arm over his chest and bowed slightly. (The watcher noted with some curiousity that there seemed to be a marking of some sort on that hand. Some sort of a clue?)

The watcher waited a few moments to see if there was anything else, but there wasn't- it looped back into "I believe this is the right choice..." and the watcher folded it up, holding it gingerly in one hand. The right choice, huh? He pondered that for a while. As opposed to what? He wished, with mild annoyance, that the speaker had elaborated.

"The right choice, huh ... please do your best."

He repeated those words quietly to himself as he stood up. "Yes ... I'll do my best. At what ... at what, I'm not sure." He laughed slightly, then, feeling a bit silly at promising a person in a recording to do something he wasn't sure about. He looked down at the brass tube in his hands, noticing something slightly odd. The same marking as the recording- in the same place.

"... Now, why would I leave such a useless message to myself? I think somebody owes me an explanation, here."

Marisa 1

2009-12-04 05:16 am UTC (link)
Character Name: Marisa
Canon: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Reference picture and Wiki link: Reference picture, complete with Engrish spelling of her name. Wiki.
Point in the time-line taken: Near endgame.
Character History: In the harsh desert land of Jehanna, one must be strong to survive. In fact, with little other economic options, the country’s main export has become mercenaries. This is what young Marisa was brought up in, the daughter of one of the best swordsmen in a country known for having a surplus of dangerous swordsmen and women. The man brought her up to follow in his footsteps; her earliest memory is learning to sleep prepared for an ambush. The training was intense, to say the least, and “holding back” simply meant that when she was a kid the swords had blunted edges.

One can only be taught so much before they can only learn more by getting hands-on experience, so Marisa inevitably set out to become an independent mercenary. She quickly made a name for herself as the “Crimson Flash,” with such a reputation that she often intimidates her own employers. Eventually, she met and began to crush on Gerik, the kindhearted leader of a small mercenary troop, and joined them. After a few guild assignment screw-ups the troop ended up getting mixed up in a full-blown war between good and evil that was likely to get them killed for not enough money--and they stuck around to see it through to the end even after being ordered to retreat from a suicidal battle. This goes to show their moral quality and commitment to helping a good cause, but also shows that they aren’t necessarily that great at being sellswords.

Canon Personality: Because of the way Marisa’s father raised her, she devotes everything to improving her swordplay. When she tries to kill someone, she isn’t even thinking about that person: in her mind, she’s fighting her father. She sees her father’s skill as a mountain that she has to climb, and every fight is a step up--and while she claims she has defeated a thousand men, she still considers herself a novice compared to him.

In other words, she’s a little messed up. Her focus makes her an extremely scary woman, as she comes across as a cold-blooded killer. And to a certain extent, she is: her mind deals in absolutes. Win to live, lose to die. When an ally asks to spar with her, she thinks he’s asking her to kill him. When the man she has a crush on says men tend to like sociable women, she thinks she has to make herself sociable before he’ll like her.

She speaks using staccato sentences, and tends to come across as cold and aloof. In reality, she’s just a combination of shy and extremely socially clumsy. If you manage to get her mind off of swordfighting, it quickly shows that she’s been so busy learning how to kill better that she just never learned how to understand people (or cook, or anything normal). She actually really wants to pet your pretty Pegasus, she’s just too shy to ask, and if you call her out on a crush that she’s trying to hide, she’ll get flustered, deny everything and run away.

Blank Personality: To a certain extent, Marisa’s mind naturally deals in the absolutes that help make her so focused and driven. It’s also in her nature to be shy and generally the odd woman out. In the matter of nature versus nurture, taking away Marisa’s memories simply takes away the drive to Beat Her Father!!1 You’re basically temporarily left with a shy girl that can finally develop outside of her swordplay.

Her absolutism does mean that when a Judge tells her she needs to do something, she will treat it as something that Has To Happen Exactly As They Said. She remains the sort of person who thinks that being sociable is a skill that you can master by practicing in private and then doing exactly as she practiced. She’s also the sort that, when presented with a concept that she doesn’t understand, asks you to speak English, even though that’s the language the concept was presented in the first place.

As Marisa regains her memories, her focus on swordplay will return. But there’s room for deviations from her canon personality depending on her experiences before she regains her canonical drive.

How would this character act in a position of authority? Marisa won’t think much of having any authority herself. She does her job, and in this case, her job is to do what the Judges want. If that sometimes means trying to tell the regular Blanks what to do, then she’ll do it and hurt whoever disobeys. Basically, as she develops, being a midboss will help preserve some of her scary professionalism.

What are their combat capabilities? Marisa is a Myrmidon, a pure swordswoman. She starts with monstrous Skill, Speed, and Luck stats, and those skills grow at an exceptional rate as she levels up, meaning that she has excellent attack accuracy, can consistently perform more attacks in a single turn than most of her enemies, has boosted critical hit chances, and an insane dodge skill. It isn’t odd to see her dodge magical attacks such as lightning. But in exchange, her hits do light damage unless she makes her critical chance, and the few attacks that she can’t dodge hit her hard because of a deficient Defense stat. The only GOOD way to fight her, really, is to keep her away from you and spam ranged attacks, or attack her with a spear.
Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? Marisa has absolutely NO additional useful skills outside of combat, which is often used to comedic effect throughout her dialogue. Her dialogue does suggest that she’s good at reading body language, but her deductions are understandably colored by her specialty.
Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? If a regular Blank is insane enough to get the scary swordswoman to fall in love with him, and then actually ask her to disobey the Judges, she’ll do it. This is, needless to say, somewhat unlikely.

Writing Sample: The Blank held up the message tube, confusion plain on her face. It seemed fairly useless, and though she lurked at the door of her room, waiting for someone--anyone--she had gone overlooked thus far, and no explanation seemed to be coming for her.

What in the world was it for? She resolved to figure it out for herself.

Perhaps it was meant for hitting things, she thought first. The thinner end of the cylinder seemed ideal for jabbing someone in the eye. Of course, it did seem needlessly intricate for such a simple task, but who was to say what the designer had in mind?

She finally brought it up experimentally to her own eye, and started at the image she saw inside. A lovely young purple-haired woman stood stiffly, her left hand resting habitually on a vicious-looking sword’s hilt. She seemed to be regarding the Blank coldly.

“Twenty words--don't need ‘em,” the image said. The woman considered for a moment, clearly trying to think of something to say when she had nothing. “Losing your sword means death. Carry more than one. And--" She floundered for a moment, flushing with embarrassment. “Practicing being social might help.” The girl blurted out the next words, obviously wanting to cover up what she had just said with a new topic: “I shall serve the Judges faithfully.”

The Blank watched the image again several times, but was still having trouble getting the point of what the girl in the image was trying to say. Shaking her head, the Blank discarded the cylinder on her bed and stalked out of the room, murmuring to herself, “That didn’t make sense. She should have spoken English.”

Shiouji Gojyou (1/2)
[info]oyakatasama
2009-12-06 12:06 am UTC (link)
Character Name: Shiouji Gojyou
Canon: Excel Saga (manga)
Reference picture and Wiki link: reference picture, he is in the lab coat! / There is a Wiki entry for Shiouji here, but this excerpt from volume 12 is really the best thing ever
Point in the time-line taken:End of Volume 19
Character History:
Once upon a time, a bright baby boy was bestowed to two geniuses, and of course, as a result he was also a genius, a boy far above his peers. This was Shiouji Gojyou. Everything was going along swimmingly until his father, Tenmangu, disappeared, leaving Gojyou (then six) and his mother, Miwa, alone. Miwa then started to change, turning from a quiet, unassuming (but brilliant) woman into the crazed eccentric she is today. From then, she showered Gojyou with love and affection to the point that it drove him away from large breasts forever. This is significant, because when he entered his junior high years, he met his cousin, Umi, then... 6, who he fell in love with, vowing to protect her pure and innocent nature. That is, until she grew breasts and turned into a terrifying high school girl with the onset of puberty.

Shiouji has since immersed himself in robotics research (with his multitude of degrees) intent on matching his father's intellect and his skill with his own work. He works as a contractor for the Fukuoka Municipal Government - more properly, he works for a former teacher, Doctor Kabapu, manufacturing things based on his crazy scheme to defeat ACROSS (or more properly, Il Palazzo.) He is affiliated with the Municipal Force Daitenzin, an amazing set of sentai superheroes.

As of this point in canon, he has quit, come back, and taken Excel into his house (however unwillingly on his part) and she uses the name Teriha. He has his suspicions as to her true identity...

Canon Personality:

Shiouji Gojyou is a genius. He is a classy, sophisticated man, completely dedicated to his research of robotics and electrical engineering, and is a man in bold pursuit of his father, and his father's ideal. He is a genius among geniuses, and has no problem in telling anyone that. He canonically calls himself "the second greatest genius that ever lived." The man has very little modesty in that department. Why? Because he's honest. He is very honest. As of recent volumes, he is only now really making the effort to lie - he really is that great, or at least, he thinks he is, and he's confident enough to say so. He loses patience quickly, however, there are very few people he snaps at. Shiouji would rather use his stunning linguistic skills to mock the person causing him problems rather than yell at them and get angry. He is a surprisingly calm man, except when it comes to hurting his creations (his robots, for example) and when it comes to his lab assistant, Umi. On the note of Umi, Shiouji has the ability to be oblivious to things if it is funny. He's also quite meta, if the situation warrants.

His personality is marred by one giant thing, though: his mother. He was a typical, kind (and brilliant) boy, one leaning toward the like and admiration of lovely people and things, though perhaps one separated from his peers from his sheer genius, until his mother changed when his father disappeared, into an eccentric woman who enjoys showering Shiouji with excessive physical affection (typically in the form of boobs. Her boobs.) That is one of the things that makes him enjoy the simpler things in life, along with his former love for his cousin, now his lab assistant. Shiouji likes to watch the innocent children from his parkbench. It's innocent, seriously...

Blank Personality:

It's heavily inferred that Shiouji is brilliant by virtue of being the child of two geniuses. I fully believe this is the case, and that his education only complimented that. So, on that note, he would still be smart, naturally curious and would pick up things quite easily, and he would probably take it for granted. He would have no reason to not be honest, so much of that would be retained, though his comments would not be as cutting as they normally can be, because he might be a bit more concerned about hurting people's feelings. He would, however, still be likely to get impatient, but his response would be to get angry, though I don't expect it would be terribly so.

He would also not have the issues associated with his mother and his cousin, and would probably hit on women more, without the restrictions he's imposed on himself due to mom's influence.

How would this character act in a position of authority? In a generally condescending manner - so basically not much different than his normal self. He will just make sure whomever is beneath him knows their place, basically. He has no propensity toward violence, so that really isn't an issue with him.
What are their combat capabilities? UH. NOT APPLICABLE, Shiouji is not a fighter, he is a support man, who makes stuff, more or less.
Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? Shiouji has his brains and his technical skills, with which he has created robots (not the brains), robot bodies for living brains, sentai suits (given the material), the list goes on. Brains are innate, technical skills would be memory related.
Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? Um, honestly, probably none. As long as Shiouji believes he's being fairly compensated for his work, he will do just about anything. I don't think this would be very different without memories.

Writing Sample:

The blank knew something was odd when he woke up, almost immediately. It was almost as if he felt... rested, and for some reason, that felt incredibly wrong. Not that he really understood why. Sleep was sleep, sleep was natural, so... Oh well, he thought, and he classified it as 'relatively unimportant for the time being,' and he moved on to the rest of the situation, which was really quite blurry, all told.

Rubbing at his eyes to no avail, he sat up, moving to sit on the side of the bed, more than lie in it. Again, like that 'relatively unimportant' thing he'd just classified, lying down seemed awkward as well. However, the thing he kicked when moving didn't sound very unimportant as it clattered to the floor. Luckily, despite his vision being off, he was able to find it relatively easily against the bed frame. It was heavy, and it was cool to the touch, and there was something he found fascinating about it even before he realized he could look into it - something he realized as he tapped the ends.

So he did look into the end, and the vision was surprisingly clear. A man with a white coat, smiling pleasantly at him - quite a nice looking man, if the blank thought so himself - and it was in a playful voice that he spoke. "Think of it as a vacation. Need I say more? You'll understand. I shall serve the Judges faithfully." He winked before the vision faded from view.

"Could he have been more vague?" The blank just sighed a bit, as if he was already put upon by this situation, but he did smile as he dropped the tube onto his lap. Something about this piqued his curiosity, and that man, whomever he might be, had confidence in him. And he had the same in himself. What was there to worry about?

Sephiroth 1/?
[info]bitchslappingly
2009-12-19 09:15 pm UTC (link)
Character Name: Sephiroth
Canon: Final Fantasy VII Compilation
Reference picture and wiki link:
Point in the time-line taken: post-Advent Children

Character History: Once upon a time there was a man named Sephiroth. He was the strongest of the strong, the best of the best, and every up-and-coming boy who wanted to be a soldier wanted to be just like him. As the strongest SOLDIER working for ShinRa, Sephiroth was the man they went to to handle the toughest missions, and if he didn't want to do it? Then they passed it off to some 2nd Class kid to do it instead. And while dedicated to his job, he did consider a number of times going AWOL should something happen, because he didn't want to fight against his friends. Awww.

But what he didn't know was that Sephiroth was the product of an experiment involving Jenova - Project S. And after learning the truth in the worst way possible, spends nearly a week researching everything he can, learning about who his "mother" was, what the project about, and dammit, why the hell did they do it in the first place. This is what leads to an eventual SNAP in his sanity, and Sephiroth goes insane. He burns down Nibelheim and attempts to rescue his "mother" from the reactor in the mountains, but is "stopped" by Cloud. But only for a little while.

Sephiroth returns a couple of years later trying to find the Promised Land and basically destroy the world, all in the name of dear ol' mom and her "reunion". But like in many games, Good prevails and Sephiroth eventually loses the battle against Cloud and is tossed into the Lifestream, left to rest peacefully in our memories.

. . . OR DOES HE?

Canon Personality: Before he went crazy, Sephiroth was collected and had an air of authority that you just didn't argue with. Dignified, even. He knew what had to be done and did it as quickly and as best as he could, and damn if anyone else could compare to that. While he did seem a bit aloof, he obviously cared enough about his friends that he was willing to abandon ShinRa to be with them - and that somewhere under all that SOLDIER was a bit of a sense of humor. He can handle Zack, after all. Though at times, because his past was such a mystery, he becomes quiet and thoughtful. When pushed too far he loses all sense of control and is a force to be reckoned with, though he's usually able to come back to himself - save for the Nibelheim incident.

When he snaps, however, his thoughts focus around Jenova - "Mother". What she wants is what he wants. If anyone gets in his way of this he has no problems shanking them. He has no remorse, no feelings of guilt - what Mother wants, Mother gets. And if that means killing flowergirls and dropping midboss after midboss in the way of those who try to stop him, he'll do it. He doesn't care about them, after all.

Blank Personality: He'll be a lot like he was BEFORE Nibelheim; calm and dignified and with a presence that demands attention or fear. Without his memories, however, he'll tend to being more quiet and keep to himself, though at the same time following whatever orders he's given to a T. Since he was raised to be a soldier, Sephiroth will get a great deal of joy out of fighting, but at the same time he'll be able to keep himself under control - unless he's pushed too far.

How would this character act in a position of authority? Sephiroth is a born leader and follower, so he'll take the role with as much seriousness as it needs. Though he tends to fall into a "leader who still has a boss" role, he'll follow whatever orders given to him as efficiently and quickly as he can.

What are their combat capabilities? STRONGEST SOLDIER. Sephiroth is an amazing swordsman with reflexes and skills that are nearly unmatched - not even his two friends, who are both 1st Class SOLDIERS themselves, can't match him while teaming up together. He also probably mastered every materia he ever equipped, so he's obviously SUPER STRONG and has constantly hones and rehones his skills. Most of this skill is innate, so receiving battle-related memories will only serve to make it much more awesome.

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? Sephiroth is very good at tactical things - organizing an attack, following through, changing his tactics halfway through - the man was born and raised a soldier, after all. Also due to being a SOLDIER, he's got a strong resistance to weather and very good eyesight - and should Jenova make her reappearance, he's got flying/hovering, and that whole bag of tricks.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? Should he ever receive memories of going CRAZY and MOTHERRRRR and all that, his loyalty will lie strictly with Jenova. However, he will come to the conclusion that he was sent here by her for a reason, and most follow through and win, no matter what. Therefore he won't REBEL, but it'll be obvious that the voice in his head is more important than the judges.

Writing Sample:

"The answer to what We seek is here. To find the Promised Land for Mother . . . I will serve the Judges faithfully."

A hand went to his temples, rubbing as he frowned. Promised Land? Mother? Something in the back of his mind stirred at the words, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't grasp onto it, let alone figure out what it meant.

He watched the message again; the man stood with an air of dignity and - fear?, glowing green eyes focused solely to the front, almost as if he expected all attention on him, and knew he would have it. The small smirk on his face was . . . the Blank couldn't quite word it properly, but it gave him an strange feeling in the pit of his stomach. And the words, again, stirred that something.

"To find the Promised Land for Mother . . . I will serve the Judges faithfully."

The blank slowly lowered the tube, closing his eyes. Questions began building in his mind, and he sat there, going over each one and comparing it to the message to see if anything could be answered. He found that he was unsurprised that each question only gave way to more questions, and he glanced towards the door, as if it had the answers he was looking for. It stirred again, that strange feeling, and he found himself rising to his feet. Perhaps the answers were out there, whatever there was.

"For Mother . . . " He murmured to himself, then shook his head and placed the tube in a pocket. And without a second glance at the room, made his way out the door.

Tsurusawa Jin

2009-12-22 08:57 pm UTC (link)
How would this character act in a position of authority?

Jin would consider himself above regular Blanks even more than he does normally; being promoted would reinforce that belief. He would have no issues with using force against the regular teams to enforce rules and back up commands no matter what. Depending on his memories and mental state, he could issue orders of his own to them, and be just as happy to back those up with force as Judge rules and commands, or he would attempt to stay in the good graces of the other teams, so as to better use them through manipulation. Memories from earlier in the series/before the series would lead to the latter effect, memories from later would lead to the former.

What are their combat capabilities?

Jin is skilled at hand-to-hand combat, excellent with guns, and very good at using Gladiator mecha. He was one of the elite of an elite unit of soldiers, so while he's within human ranges, he's near the top.

Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills?

He was a commando! So he knows stealth, explosives, whatnot. And also how to play a piano, asusming all the right memories. That could be useful. Maybe.

Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges?

He would only rebel if he felt there was an opportunity to seize their power, which is highly unlikely. So. None.

Character Name: Anthy Himemiya
Canon: Revolutionary Girl Utena (anime)
Reference picture and Wiki link: pic and wiki
Point in the time-line taken: Right after stabbing Utena and returning to her coffin (episode 38)
Character History: Once upon a time there was a prince, beloved by all women everywhere, even those not of that particular sexual persuasion. He tried to make princesses of all the girls in the world, but despite his best attempts, there was actually not enough of him to go around. In order to protect the prince, his sister sacrificed herself, taking all of the swords meant for him. For decades, maybe centuries, she has remained his sacrifice, never aging or dying. The prince corrupted and became End of the World, leaving his sister a submissive pawn in his ploys for power and eternity and sex with middle-schoolers. This is the story of Anthy Himemiya: Rose Bride. Witch. Pincushion.

From the beginning of the series, Anthy is Rose Bride, a symbol of the power to revolutionize the world. She is passed around in duels, while her brother Akio watches and occasionally bangs her. When Anthy is won by a noble but naive girl named Utena, and that girl continues to win, she falls into the clutches of his statutory evil plan. He begins to shape Utena into a perfect prince, hoping to use her to unlock the prince's power that Anthy sealed from him so long ago. During Utena's confrontation of Akio and attempt to save Anthy, Anthy stabs her in the back, telling her that she can't be a prince, because she is a girl.

Canon Personality:

At first glance, Anthy is a quiet, shy girl. She spends more time with plants and animals than she does with people, and is easily bullied by others. To those who win her in the duels, she is ceaselessly polite and subservient. All-in-all, a bland-seeming doormat of a girl, with no real will or personality of her own. And there is a degree of truth to these perceptions. Anthy has an extremely thick layer of indifference to protect her from all the things that hurt her: the cruelty of others, sex with people she would probably rather not, pimp slaps, self-loathing, being stabbed a whole dang lot, and hope.

But there's a great deal more to Anthy than the cold exterior. Inside, she's an angry, passive-aggressive girl who manipulates everyone around her. Nearly every character in the series needs her, and it doesn't matter whether they want to use her, protect her, or destroy her. She makes them depend on her and makes them fight for her. If they start to waver, she never has trouble finding a wound to rub a little salt into. This isn't just her job - hurting people is one of the few pleasures enjoyed by the Rose Bride.

She's revolutionized and redeemed in the end, of course, but as I've taken her from before then, the point is moot.

As a Blank, she won't be significantly different. She may not remember the specific events that made her the Rose Bride, but at this point it's simply what she is. The brother issues may diminish, but overall the Judges will easily slip into Akio's role as masters she can both love and hate. Besides that, the most significant portion of her trauma isn't memory-related. Even as she wakes up in her cozy Ophiuchus bed, she is also being pierced with innumerable swords, and she knows that, and she feels that. She needs to defend herself somehow, and the "doormat" part of her personality, as well as the learned helplessness that makes her so obedient and pessimistic, are so deeply ingrained within her that she will adopt them immediately.

Because she is a Blank, however, she will need to be ordered around, especially at first. If not specifically ordered, she won't have anything to do, and it will simply not occur to her that she could decide something for herself. She won't give herself a name. During her free time, she will do nothing more than sit around and maybe quietly amuse herself playing with a terapede or some other such adorable creature. She also won't take memories unless explicitly told to do so; partially because of the aforementioned need for direction, but also because she won't want to remember herself.

How would this character act in a position of authority? Anthy is not capable of being in a traditional position of authority. However, she is more than capable of following orders, and has her own ways of punishing people.
What are their combat capabilities? Anthy does not and will not fight directly. Instead, her strength lies in quietly manipulating those around her. Her methods are slower and more subtle than your average kick to the head, but they're far more devastating. If she does get into a fight without someone to meat shield protect her, she'll be quickly defeated... but since she's as much archetype as she is person, she cannot truly be killed.
Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? She has a variety of actual and symbolic skills at hand. She has a pretty spiffy sword she keeps in her chest, and can pull swords from the chests of others. She can turn into a dude and trick you into thinking she's this little dead boy you used to have a weird crush on.
Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? Anthy will never, ever rebel, no matter what happens.

Writing Sample:

The Blank did not know how long she lay in that tiny, tight ball, buried beneath the covers. She supposed it didn't matter. When she finally uncurled herself, it was not because the phantom pain had subsided (no, it wasn't phantom at all), but because her toe had bumped against something sitting on top of the bed. After taking a moment to decide whether or not it was worth looking, she lifted her head and peered across the bed at the smooth tube entwined with roses. Had that been there the entire time? She supposed that didn't matter, either.

Staring at the object did not reveal its secrets, nor did staring away remove its presence. There was nothing left to do but sit up, reach out for it, and peer inside.

Darkness greeted her; a dark figure in a dark red dress against a dark background. The only light seemed to be coming from within the girl's glasses. She said, in a tone of flat indifference, "I shall serve the Judges faithfully."

The Blank watched once, and only once, before returning the tube to its former spot. She knew, without needing or wanting to look into that person's face, just the kind of woman who had left her the message. She knew, without needing to consciously process the fact, that she disliked her more than she knew how to convey. She thought to herself, that must be me.

And that was that. As though a spell had been broken (or perhaps cast), the Blank lifted herself from the bed. Whoever the Judges were, whatever it was they wanted her to do (more things that didn't really matter), she would serve them willingly. So she put on the glasses that had been lying on the nightstand, and tidied the bed, and smoothed out the wrinkles in her long, black dress.

The Blank then took a seat on the bedspread, and began waiting for someone to come.

Character Name: Takeuchi Sora
Canon: Air Gear
Reference picture and Wiki link
Point in the time-line taken: Kidnapping and holding Rika hostage during tournament.
Character History:
Takeuchi Sora is one person in a pair of twins who was created by scientists in order to create the perfect person suited for the A-Ts that are created with this new-age technology. However, the problem is that the scientists, after putting these children (there were many of them) through tests upon test, determined that only one of them were worth keeping--neither of them being the twins. Instead, the one chosen to be kept talked the scientists out of eliminating the rest and helped his fellow Gravity Children escape the confines of the tower in which they were raised.

Sora, and his brother who was also conveniently named Sora but is also called "Nike", is the Gravity child who was much loved by the wind. Or he loved it. Either way, as time went on, Sora became the Wind King and brought together a team of A-T users, primarily those Gravity Children who escaped the tower. This was largely in order to find the Sky Regalia, which Sora began to spread the rumor that it was in the tower so other A-T teams would also attempt to find it. Using this rumor, Sora actually becomes the one who encourages the creation of the Trophaenum Tournament just so he can swoop in and take the Sky Regalia for himself. By gaining the Regalia, Sora of course determines that he will actually be suited to rule the world. The dream he's had since escaping the tower. Typical villain things.

BUT. The dream of global domination ends when that one Gravity Child who had once saved Sora's life turns against him upon finding out Sora's true goals. The Gravity Child known as Kilik not only takes part in destroying this team Sora's created--the original Sleeping Forest--but he also takes from Sora the use of his legs and thus the sky. This puts Sora in a wheelchair for years, bitter everytime he hears the clocktower which signals the start of the A-T Trophaenum Tournament.

Until, of course, some brat starts making an uproar in the A-T world by being called the next Wind King, heir to the Wing Road. Upon the request of Rika, the boy's adoptive sister and the former Thorn Queen of Sleeping Forest (also Sora's lover at one point), Sora begins to train this Minami ikki with the idea in mind to create a successor. Except successors are a messy, unpredictable business and thus he tells Ikki to sit and wait and cry because he's no longer needed. Sora instead gets some badass hardware on his legs so he can ride A-T's once more, aiming to reclaim his title as Wind King as well as complete his previous plans of global domination. This might involve slaughtering as many of the A-T Kings, former Sleeping Forest, and Gravity Children as possible. :)

Canon Personality:
At first, Sora seems very much like Ikki in how he is a SHOUNEN RETARD WING ROAD/WIND KING IDIOT. He seems to be very aloof, smiling and goofing off a lot while riding around in his custom A-T designed wheelchair. Perversion is something he excels in and takes much delight in inflicting on the female population (until Rika piledrives him into the ground, at least). There are times when he's quieter, however, and he sits and enjoys the feel of the breeze because he is still very much akin to the wind as he was before he took the fall that took out his legs.

Later on, it's revealed just how much of a fake and a bastard Sora actually is. All the time since he took that fall, Sora has been bitter and further poisons his own heart with hatred because despite Kilik taking his legs, he was the one to spare his life for the second time in a row (though Nike still managed to beat Kilik up and take his Gem Road Regalia, HA). He's a sociopath who cares very little for the people around him but also knows that it's important to have such relations as with Rika and Ikki in order to bide his time until things were set.
